Saturday 9: The Men in My Little Girl's Life

Image
Hey there, hi there, ho there! I hope you're all having outstanding day. I am just now deciding whether I want to have a day, as the three of us here (Hubs, Daughter, and I) were up past 0500 hours this morning and are all beyond worn out.         Have you all had an irrational amount of rain so far this Gardening/Summertime/Whatever you want to call it Season? Ugh, the drenching we have taken! Rob and I have been laying out seed since mid-late April, and for some of them, we still are because of fun calendar math. Working in the garden has been, honestly, exhilarating for me, but because I have multiple chronic health conditions, I pay a pretty penny in the form of pain and fatigue. But especially this June, we're getting hours-long deluge after hours-long deluge.          Last night at two in the morning (so yes, today), I was obsessing about it and chatting with Google AI for next steps. When we were discussing carrots and our ru...

Saturday 9: Fun, Fun, Fun!

Image
Hello, world, how are you? Nice to see you again. Yes, I am still alive, heh. I've got several "drafts" saved in my account, but I've been too tired, physically and/or emotionally, to finish them. That's why I haven't been here, too: Lots of gardening has been happening and it has been wearing me out! Carrying on... I've been having trouble getting to the specific post of Crazy Sam's for this week's quizzical, so for now I'm going to have to bring you to this more generic link and have you find the "Fun, Fun, Fun" from there, if you wish to play along this weekend. And now: Saturday 9: Fun, Fun, Fun (1964) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here ! 1) This song is about a girl who borrows her father's Ford Thunderbird. When is the last time you drove someone else's car? Oh, a long time. When we still lived in Virginia Beach and the kids were Littles, I was driving an Odyssey and Rob drove his 2003 VW Jetta. Once ...

Saturday 9: I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover

Image
Howdy, y'all. It's almost 1:30 PM on Saturday (East Coast), and I am feeling lousy , hence my late start into this week's fun. But I was determined not to miss out. This week, we're talking about this song by Willie Nelson (love him!), from his Rainbow Connection album. Want to make your mark and play this week. Just make sure you link up here ! ♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣•♣ Saturday 9: I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover, 2001 Selected in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here . 1) This is one of the songs included in Willie Nelson's Rainbow Connection album. He named it after his daughter Amy's favorite song when she was a little girl. She'd been asking him to record "The Rainbow Connection" for 20 years and finally, in 2001, he came through for her. Think of something you had to wait for. Was it worth the wait? I waited for years and years to graduate high schoo...

Saturday 9: Linger

Image
Heyo! How is everyone? I can't believe it's Saturday again already. The week just flew by, especially now that our little baby seedling starts are popping up like mad. Many of them will need to be moved to new pots today, and all of this is first-time stuff for us, so we're pretty excited (and a little worn out) by it all! I hope you're doing well, each of you. Today, we're talking about The Cranberries; I was always a big fan. If you'd like to participate, link up here ! I know everyone would love to have you. Saturday 9: Linger (1993) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here . 1) In this song, Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries sings that her lover has her wrapped around his finger. Do you feel that anyone has you wrapped around their finger? Yes, but I probably shouldn't let them know it so explicitly, so we'll keep that information mum! 2) This was one of the first songs Delores and Noel Hogan wrote together. They performed it often...

Saturday 9: Farewell, Amanda

Image
(Harry Prime, young and old) Hello, kids of all ages! Glad to have you stop by. I have finished my two-week course of antibiotics, and would you believe it? I actually feel so much better now for the first time since near the end of December! It took right up until the end of that fortnight, but that's okay, because I was giving it my full faith and it, its time to work, and it did. I am so damn relieved. Can I get a woot, woot!? [TWO MONTHS of this pneumonia that caused a wicked harsh bronchiectasis exacerbation. No, thank you!] I know, I'm strange. I'm aware. Today we're doing the song "Farewell, Amanda," over on ye olde Saturday 9. If you're joining us late, like I am, or even tomorrow, be sure and link up here . Now let's get down to business: ><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< Saturday 9: Farewell, Amanda (1949) Unfamili...

Saturday 9: With or Without You

Image
Hi, friends! This is one of those iconic songs from U2 that needs no blah-blah-blahging introduction from me this week, so I think I'm just going to jump right into it. To see other folks' entries or to submit your own, check out this link . Saturday 9: With or Without You (1987)   Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.   1) "With or Without You" is about the pain of love. What song reminds you of an old romance? Is it about the joy of love or the pain? This is "When I See You Smile" by Bad English, and is mostly about the joy of love for me, in that old romance, but there is a big of pain there, too. It was a good relationship until it ended. 2) U2 lead singer Bono has admitted that, when the group recorded this song in the 1980s, he was wrestling with his real-life commitment issues. He was trying to resolve the responsibilities of being a husband with the demands of his career. He worked it through, and decades later both his marriage and his...
