saturday 9: the entertainer (theme from the sting)

Hello again, all. I try, I try to stay on top of writing, but the days and weeks just get away from me. So I bring to you another Saturday 9 from Crazy Sam and the crew (and a not-bad looking Robert Redford [RIP]), with promises to try writing other things during the week, too. Noo, those aren't  my fingers crossed behind my back! Today's song choice is Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer." I think the last time I came this  up close and personal with this song, it was 1991, and I was 14 years old and on my first cruise. We were on the Carnival Ecstasy's inaugural year, close to the beginning, which my dad and his wife were stupidly so proud about. But I digress. There was a talent show. Two of the guys I was hanging out with had a younger brother who played piano and used this for his talent piece. I cannot remember if he won. If you're playing along this weekend - which I hope you are - make sure you link your post up here ! Let's go: The Entertainer (...

saturday 9: come see about me

Hey guys. Here it is, nearing 9 PM, and I've just remembered it's Saturday and that means it's S9. Maybe I'll get a passing glance, maybe not, but I've got to keep writing ( anything! But might as well make it fun!) for writing's sake. I always appreciate those who do visit, though! * Looks like we're taking on The Supremes. I'm listening to the song right now - you should, too! What if we had a group called The Superiors? or The Very Best? or the VIPs? Would they rank in for highest in terms of quality? Anyway, if you're playing (late like me) this weekend, be sure and link up here! ~*~*~*~*~*~ Saturday 9: Come See About Me (1964) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it  here . 1) In this song, Diana Ross sings that she's given up her friends for her boyfriend. Have you ever had a lover your friends disapproved of? Has a friend ever dated someone you didn't care for? Yes to both! I mean, It happens fairly commonly, I assume, but maybe ...

saturday 9: a little in love

Image
Hey, y'all. I haven't posted with you guys in a long while; my short and sweet explanation is that there isn't one, really, except for a bundle of new health fears and problems, and I just haven't been up to it. Week after week, I've tried and let myself down. I've missed you. So here I am, hopefully making it through to the end, if you'll have me. (Excuse the dust as I settle into my new bloggy "home.") ⃝ So if you're new to Saturday 9, look around and then just jump in here . If memory serves, no one actually  bites. Looks like we're doing "A Little in Love" by Cliff Richard this week. While I don't know it, I'm sure it'll be fun. Let's go! ~*~*~*~*~ Saturday 9: A Little in Love (1980) Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it  here .   1) Do you believe you can be a little in love? Or is romance an all-or-nothing proposition for you? It is most definitely an all-or-nothing proposition for me. I can't fal...
